Mountain Bike in the Moonlight at McDowell Mountain Park

I finally got out to one of the mountain bike night rides put on by Maricopa Parks and Recreation at McDowell Mountain Regional Park. I have been a few times in past years, but haven’t been able to make it this year. It is getting more popular every year. If you haven’t been out there for one of these, you need to go. The turn out is awesome! I heard that officially there were 140… Read More »

Mountain Bike Ride at Pemberton Trail – McDowell Mountain Park

Tysen and I went mountain biking at Pemberton Trail this morning. This was our last long training ride for the upcoming Barn Burner in Flagstaff this upcoming weekend. There has been the oddest weather this June. It was actually cool this morning at 6:30am. I think it was in the 70’s. The cool weather brought out a lot of mountain bikers to McDowell Mountain Park this morning. The strange thing was, that there were more… Read More »

Papago Park Mountain Bike Ride

I went on a mountain bike ride at Papago Park today with Ramon. I haven’t been on a ride at Papago Park since…I can’t remember. Must be about 8 years or more. Everything is pretty much the same. Papago Park has trails for all skill levels. Most of the trails are very smooth, but you can find some technical areas around the little mountains. The rocks are fun to play on. Back in the day,… Read More »

McDowell Competitive Track Ride

I got up early to go mountain biking today with Ramon and Aaron. Early for me is 8:30am, but I had to get up at 7am to get out to McDowell Mountain Regional Park by 8am. It took a little time to warm up but the once I got riding I felt pretty strong, surprisingly for the lack of sleep. My motivation to get up early and go mountain biking is that I am training… Read More »

Epic Pemberton Mountain Bike Ride

I set off to get a good mountain bike training ride in for the Whiskey Off-Road Race today out at Pemberton Trail in the McDowell Mountain Regional Park. I accomplished that, but was in for a much longer day than I had expected. My first lap of the 15.4 mile loop started off great. I stopped a few times to take some photos of the spring flowers, so my time doesn’t reflect a fast lap,… Read More »

Pemberton – McDowell Mountain Regional Park

The 15.3 mile trail has been altered within the last year. There used to be a very rocky climb and the middle section was filled with fun whoop de doos. Both of these sections have been removed. The trail starts with a short gradual decline to a 4 mile very gradual climb. Then it hits the new section with mostly flat riding. The last 8 mile section is my favorite. It is a double track… Read More »
