Desert Classic to Telegraph Pass – South Mountain Park

Desert Classic Trail at South Mountain

Desert Classic Trail at South Mountain

Amazing! I got to ride my mountain bike in the middle of the day in the middle of the summer. Why? The monsoon rains kept the temperature below 100 degrees. I headed out on Desert Classic in a slight drizzle about 3:30pm, hoping for more days like this during the summer. I decided to test my endurance, since I haven’t been riding to much because of the heat, and I don’t like to get up at 5am to ride my bike. So, I decided to go to Telegraph Pass and back. I felt good for most of the way out, but felt the fatigue setting in about 2 miles from my turn around point. I rode on, because I had set a goal. Glad that I finally made it, I rested for 5 minutes and ate a granola bar.

The ride back tested my endurance near the end as every little climb started to hurt my legs. I was glad to get back to parking lot at Pima Canyon and accomplished my mission.
